LiveOAK Media is currently looking for web-savvy interns with a passion for the environment and sustainability. Interning with LiveOAK will give you the unique opportunity to learn about organically building a web based media company, and gain experience with both the journalism and business side of the digital media landscape. You will also have the opportunity to meet and network with people from some of the biggest media outlets and most successful sustainable businesses.
We run LiveOAK Media collaboratively among a decentralized editorial staff spread out between NH, CO, GA, CA & TN so work can be done remotely but we prefer applicants that are close to our home offices in Durham, NH and Fort Collins, CO. We are currently accepting applications for the Fall Semester. The internships are unpaid and require a semester long commitment with a minimum of 10 hrs per week. Currently enrolled college students, who will receive credit for the experience, will be given preference.

Digital Media Editorial Internship
(location: Fort Collins, CO)
We are currently accepting applications for Editorial Interns. You will be working directly under the Executive Editor and focus primarily on the editorial side of the business, you will be assisting in all areas of the publishing process and really see how the entire business is run.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer with knowledge of new media models and an interest in the future of journalism. He or she should possess an enterprising and creative outook. Experience blogging and working with online communities and social media networks is required. Candidates should also have a strong grasp of the principals of sustainability and be well informed about current environmental issues.
While these are not required, we’d like to see candidates that:
- Are news junkies
- Have experience with the WordPress.org platform
- Have experience with social news sites like Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon…
- Have strong Facebook and Twitter presences
- Have decent graphic design abilities
Primary Focus:
- Content production & editing
- Content Promotion
- Reader engagement
Other Areas of Focus:
- Buzz building and marketing
- Collaboration with media partners
- Brand development
You will have the opportunity to:
- Research and write editorial content
- Work with and learn from a well-regarded green media team
- Assist in editing and fact checking content
- Conduct interviews
- Track environmental current events and issues
- Facilitate discussion across network channels
- Assist in brand management and buzz building through social media channels
- Assist with content promotion
- Produce and edit audio & video content
- You may also have the opportunity to attend promotional events, conferences, networking events, and concerts.
Digital Media Publishing Internship
(location: Durham, NH)
We are currently accepting applications for Publishing Interns. You will be working directly under the Publisher and focus primarily on the product development side of the business, however you will be assisting in all areas of the publishing process and be directly involved in the editorial process as well.
The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial person with a keen eye for trends and strong writing skills. Experience blogging and working with online communities and social media networks is required. Candidates should also have a strong grasp of the principals of sustainability and be well informed about current environmental issues.
While these are not required, we’d like to see candidates that:
- Are news junkies
- Have experience with the WordPress.org platform and some knowledge of PHP
- Have experience with social news sites like Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon…
- Have strong Facebook and Twitter presences
- Have experience with ad serving platforms like Google’s DFP and OpenX
- Have decent graphic design abilities
You will work with the publisher and editorial team assisting with all areas of the publishing process.
